Lynn & Leigh Reserves

(The open grassed area of Lynn Reserve connects to the native bush of Leigh Reserve and together they provide a wonderful area for relaxation and re-connecting to nature. Access to Lynn Reserve is off Lynn Road, Glenfield, while the main entrance to Leigh Reserve is off Morriggia Place (though you can walk in from Lynn Reserve).

A playground and outdoor basketball court, along with the large grassed area at Lynn Reserve, provide a great location for the family to enjoy, have a picnic or just run around. Leigh Reserve is home to the largest Kauri tree on the North Shore - possibly 800 years old and well over 2 meters in diameter. It is located right at the top of the reserve and can be easily seen just as you enter the bush. The bushwalk carries on down formed pathways and some steps, meandering through mature bush with a stream bubbling along next to you until you walk into Lynn Reserve. All manner of native birds can be seen flitting in amongst smaller kauri, rimu, ferns and nikaus. It is only a short walk, but well worth the effort.

Glenfield Coastal Walkway

Access to the Glenfi eld Coastal Walkway is via lower Glendhu Road (left off Lynn and Bayview Roads - look for the sign).

The walkway is suitable for all age groups, as long as you take your time, and provides views of the upper harbour as well as native bush The upper part of the walk is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs - look out for some beautiful gardens as well. The walkway connects up to the bushwalks in Manuka Reserve, so you can carry on walking right down to Kaipatiki Bridge.
