for a taste of their Mediterranean fare. Verrans Espresso & Food has simple, honest food… ask for one of their baked cakes and slices, while Verbena Restaurant & Bar
offers a cosy bar for a drink plus an interesting menu and decent wine list in the restaurant out back.
Shearer Pottery gives you an insight into how a master craftsman creates his wares,along with wonderful "kete" and pottery for sale.
Peter Shearer has been working with stoneware clay for over 30 years. His forms and glazes are strongly influenced by New Zealand's unique environment which include bowls, platters, vases and dishes. Each piece is individually handmade on potter's wheel and fired to 1300oC.
Jeanette Shearer, our ceramic artist, is currently producing a series of framed miniature clay gathering baskets or "kete" containing paua, greenstone, shell and feathers.
Visitors are welcome from 10am - 4pm anyday, but it is a good idea to ring first.
