Beach Haven, located right at the top of the Harbourside district, is a hidden delight that provides access to the
upper harbour and views not many Aucklanders have seen. From the wharf, you have a view up and down the inner harbour, plus it's a great spot to go fishing with the kids.
Shepherds Park has a range of delightful walks that wind through native bush and down to Hellyers Creek. Extensive re-planting has allowed regeneration right down to the waters edge. The headland entrance is at the foot of Cresta Ave. Proceed up the trail to the large Rimu tree, from here the track leads to a boardwalk through the salt marsh to the Landing and the Maori midden site. Climb the steps to the upper terraces to enjoy extensive views of the estuary and upper harbour, plus check out the Heritage Centre which contains historic and ecological information.
La Maison du Chocolat has the delightful atmosphere of a 'working' chocolate factory and a range of premium chocolates and sweets to satisfy any sweet tooth. Then there is Au Bon Coin Café & Patisserie, great for a cool drink, a coffee or lunch and if it's sunny sit out under the trees.
